Standard 4.B: Teachers apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation strategies. Teachers use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning.

Number of hours required: Minimum of 5
Number of CEUs to be awarded: Minimum of 0.5, Maximum of 1.0. Number of CEUs awarded will be determined by the number of strategies included.

**Note: No less that 0.5 CEUs can be submitted to Central Office for credit. If only the minimum requirements have been met, this task must be combined with another task(s) to total 0.5 CEUs in order to receive credit.

Overview:

Many schools now utilize computer assisted instruction software to assess a student's current level. Software such as this provides many detailed reports that can help teachers best meet their students' needs in the classroom. There are many types of such software: Successmaker, Accelerated Reader, Accelerated Math, Standards Master, Compass Learning, and A+ just to name a few.

Task:
1) Contact your media coordinator and/or technology facilitator to learn about the types of computer assisted instruction used at your school.

2) If you are not familiar with the software at your school, seek out your school's contact for the software to have them assist you with learning the software and explaining the reports it can provide.

3) Use the reports to determine the type of information that can be gathered and used in meeting the needs of your students.

4) Write a reflection to outline the type of information gathered from the reports and who that information will assist you in meeting the needs of your students.
