Goal3: Teaching, Learning, and the Curriculum

Standard 3C: Teachers implement curriculum plans that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize student learning. Teachers apply technology to develop students' higher order skills and creativity.

Number of hours required: Minimum of 2
Number of CEUs to be awarded: Minimum of 0.2, Maximum of 0.5 Number of CEUs awarded will be determined by the number of articles included.

**Note: No less that 0.5 CEUs can be submitted to Central Office for credit. If only the minimum requirements have been met, this task must be combined with another task(s) to total 0.5 CEUs in order to receive credit.

Overview:

Each year researchers set out to prove if technology has an impact on student achievement and is it being used effectively to promote higher order thinking skills.

A good overview of the essentials of Bloom's Taxonomy, essential questions, and incorporating these into lesson plans.


Task:
1) Go through Higher Order Thinking Through Technology Techtorial and read the information found in the article Lesson Planning to Develop Higher Order Thinking Skills.

2) List examples gleaned from your reading as to how technology can enhance higher order thinking skills.

3) Write a reflection that discusses how you could incorporate the strategies you gleaned from your reading and apply them to your teaching practices.

4) To receive CEU credit for your work, submit an electronic copy of your work to cphthisic@ecps.k12.nc.us with the subject line your name task card 3C.
