Standard 2.C: Teachers plan and design effective learning environments and experiences supported by technology: Teachers identify and locate technology resources and evaluate them for accuracy and suitability.

Number of hours required: Minimum of 2
Number of CEUs to be awarded: Minimum of 0.2, Maximum of 0.5. Number of CEUs awarded will be determined by the number of web sites evaluated.

**Note: No less that 0.5 CEUs can be submitted to Central Office for credit. If only the minimum requirements have been met, this task must be combined with another task(s) to total 0.5 CEUs in order to receive credit.

Overview:

There are many technology resources that claim to be the most effective in teaching particular skills or providing information. It is important to carefully review those resources before putting them to use in the classroom.

Task:
1) Select a website evaluation tool that best fits the criteria you would need to address when choosing web sites to use with your students.

2) Locate two web sites that cover a topic for your grade level. A good place to begin is Internet4Classrooms: http://www.internet4classrooms.com

3) Use the evaluation tool you selected to thoroughly evaluate each site. Type your results.

3) Cite the evaluation tool and web sites using APA style. An easy citation guide can be found at http://www.citationmachine.net

To use citation machine, read through the information found on the home page. The citation can be copied and pasted to your file.

4) To receive CEU credit for your work, submit an electronic copy of your work to cphthisic@ecps.k12.nc.us
